Does AI Understand Your Website?

You've tested your website with users.

Have you ever tested it with AI?

For over twenty years we've optimized digital content for people. Today, AI is becoming another audience. This assessment helps you understand how effectively AI understands your website.

For the marketing leaders, digital and content teams responsible for how AI interprets, trusts and represents their websites.

The same web page interpreted differently by a human visitor and by an AI system, illustrating Digital Presenteeism

Digital Presenteeism is a diagnostic by Andy Iddon (Chief Strategy Officer, Content Bloom).

The Theory

Digital Presenteeism™

Your Content's Silent Crisis

Digital Presenteeism™ describes a growing challenge where digital content exists, is accessible and may even be found, but fails to communicate effectively with the AI systems increasingly influencing how customers research, compare and shortlist products and services.

As AI becomes a new layer between organisations and their customers, visibility alone is no longer enough.

The question is whether AI can confidently understand, trust and accurately represent what your content means.

The Method

Customer Experience Testing For AI

For decades, organisations have tested digital experiences with people.

Digital Presenteeism™ considers the principles of customer experience research to AI systems.

Human Questions

What we ask people

Questions asked of human visitors

  1. 01What do you think this company does?
  2. 02What information is missing?
  3. 03What would you do next?
  4. 04What influenced your decision?

AI Questions

What we ask AI

Questions asked of AI systems

  1. 01What does this page appear to be about?
  2. 02Who is the intended audience?
  3. 03What evidence is available?
  4. 04What information appears to be missing?
  5. 05How confident are you in your interpretation?

The result isn't a score.

The result is an AI interpretation of Understanding.

Why This Matters

Reading Is Not Understanding

A page can be accessible to AI without being interpreted in the way its authors intended.

Humans Interpret

Human visitors use language, context, design, experience and supporting information to understand what a page means.

AI Interprets

AI systems extract information and signals from a page, then use them to form an interpretation of its meaning.

Interpretations Differ

AI may reach a different conclusion from a human visitor, even when both are examining the same content.

Origin

The Discovery Behind Digital Presenteeism™

  1. 01 · Observation

During a customer engagement, we noticed something unexpected.

  2. 02 · Finding

Important product information that customers could easily find was not being identified by AI systems.

  3. 03 · Interpretation

The information existed. The AI simply interpreted the experience differently.

  4. 04 · Question

That observation raised a much bigger question: what else might AI be misunderstanding?

What else is AI misunderstanding?

As we investigated further, we realised this wasn't an isolated issue. It was a recurring pattern. We called that pattern Digital Presenteeism™.

The Assessment Engine

Digital Presenteeism™

The First AI Interpretation Workshop

To investigate Digital Presenteeism™, we apply the principles of customer experience research to AI systems. Instead of asking people how they experience a website, we ask modern AI systems how they interpret it. The result is a structured understanding of what AI understood, what it expected to understand, the evidence it relied upon, and where confidence begins to break down.

Evidence Base

Built on Real Assessments

Developed from recurring patterns observed across:

  • 0176 customer assessments
  • 02300+ pages analysed
  • 03Multiple industries and sectors
  • 04Consistent AI interpretation patterns across leading AI systems

These observations became the Five Dimensions of AI Understanding.

Framework

Five Dimensions of AI Understanding

The Five Dimensions of AI Understanding were developed from recurring "Signals" identified during hundreds of AI understanding assessments. Together they provide a practical framework for evaluating how effectively AI systems retrieve, interpret, trust, compare and act upon digital content.

01

Extraction

Can AI successfully extract the information it needs from the page?

02

Interpretation

Does AI correctly understand what the page is about?

03

Accuracy

Can AI accurately represent the products, services and information presented?

04

Confidence

Does the page provide enough evidence for AI to trust its interpretation?

05

Conversion

Can AI identify a clear next step for a prospective customer?

Observations

Common Signals of Digital Presenteeism™

Across hundreds of pages, organisations and industries, the same interpretation patterns begin to emerge.

The individual AI systems vary, but the underlying Signals are remarkably consistent.

SIGNAL 01

Specifications existed but were not identified

Product detail was technically present on the page, yet AI could not locate or interpret it during analysis.

Impact

AI has lower confidence describing what the product actually is or does, reducing the likelihood of accurate recommendation.

SIGNAL 02

Evidence was available but difficult to interpret

Proof points and supporting information existed, but their relationship to claims was unclear to AI systems.

Impact

AI cannot substantiate claims with the supporting evidence on the page, weakening the credibility of its response.

SIGNAL 03

Audience intent was inferred incorrectly

AI formed a view of who the page was for that did not match the organisation's actual intent.

Impact

AI may surface the page to the wrong audiences and describe it in language that misrepresents who it is for.

SIGNAL 04

Differentiation was unclear

Distinctive value was implied through design and tone, but not expressed in ways AI could identify.

Impact

AI cannot articulate why this organisation is different from competitors, making it harder to be shortlisted in comparison responses.

SIGNAL 05

Trust signals were weak or difficult to locate

Credentials, testimonials and proof existed but were positioned in ways that did not register with AI.

Impact

AI has lower confidence recommending this organisation because supporting evidence is difficult to identify.

The Signals are neither right nor wrong.

They provide insight into how AI systems interpret digital content.

Free AI Understanding Assessment

Send us a page. We'll show you what AI understands — and what it misses.

Send us one page from your website. We'll return a free, no-obligation diagnostic report showing what AI systems understand about it and what they miss.

What you get

  • 01A plain-English verdict on whether AI understands your page
  • 02What AI thinks your page is about and where it diverges from your intent
  • 03Scores across Extraction, Interpretation, Accuracy, Confidence, Conversion
  • 04The signals most reducing AI understanding, ranked
  • 05Structural issues blocking AI interpretation (headings, schema, evidence)
  • 06A live walkthrough of the findings with our team

What we need from you: just the URL of the page you want assessed — nothing else.

What happens next: every request is reviewed personally. You'll receive your report by email, typically within 2 working days.

No obligation: the assessment is free, your page and report are kept confidential, and there's no follow-up commitment.

How it works

  1. 01

    Submit your URL

One accessible page is enough. Three is better.

  2. 02

    We run the assessment

Our engine asks leading AI systems how they interpret your page. Typically within 2 working days.

  3. 03

    You receive the report

A structured AI Understanding Report delivered by email, free.

Pages to Assess *

Provide at least one. Each URL is optional — leave any blank you don't have.

A specific product page that represents what you sell.

A service page where prospects evaluate what you deliver.

An article or insight post that demonstrates expertise.

Your data is handled securely and not shared with third parties.

Built on 76 live assessments across 300+ pages.

Why I Built the Platform

For decades, we've tested digital experiences with people using customer research techniques to understand how they navigate, interpret and complete tasks.

It struck me that almost nobody was asking AI the same questions.

That realization led to a simple idea: if AI is increasingly influencing customer decisions, we should understand how it interprets digital experiences too...?

That thinking ultimately led to Digital Presenteeism™.
